Providing Legal Services to Help Secure Your Ideal Future

kathy rus estate planning attorney

For over 25 years, I have dedicated my life to providing knowledgeable legal advice to businesses and guiding people through the often-emotional process of estate planning. I have more than two decades of experience in Maryland Law, and in 2003, I established The Law Office of D. Kathleen Rus, EsqBefore opening my own firm, I practiced as a tax attorney in the areas of individual, corporate and estate taxes, employee benefits, trusts and estates, and tax-exempt organizations.

My current practice is focused in two primary areas

In 2020, I am proud to provide legal assistance to residents at my offices in Parkton, MD and Westminster, MD.

Taking an Altruistic Approach to Your Legal Concerns

As a professional attorney, I understand your need for qualified legal advice when making crucial life and business decisions.

As a human being, I understand how overwhelming it can be to consider your own mortality, let alone make decisions about what should happen to your family, assets, and business once you are gone.

That’s why I take a unique approach with each of my clients. Rather than providing jargon-heavy legal advice and  sending you on your way, I first dedicate myself to ensuring you understand and feel as comfortable as possible with the legal process in which you are entering. By addressing each client’s needs and concerns in a more welcoming environment, I create trusting relationships in order to better provide legal advice, guidance, and services through these impactful processes.

Guiding You in Estate, Business, and Non-Profit Law

In my experience as a Business attorney, I have helped hundreds of individuals form and start both small businesses and Non-Profit Organizations. I have also taught courses at Carroll Community College on:

  • Legal Issues in Business
  • How to Buy & Sell a Business
  • Legal Issues for Artists
  • Succession Planning in Business.

As an Estate, Wills and Trusts attorney, I help families and individuals plan and administer their estates, implement trust agreements, navigate the probate process and prepare for the future. My goal is to provide clients with high-quality, compassionate, and affordable legal services to Baltimore County, Carroll County, and Howard County residents in need.
